Noodle It Out

I was washing out a container that held the remains of my homemade vegetable noodle soup. Just as I was about to wash the bits down the drain, I saw this noodle remnant in the bottom of our stainless steel sink.

Shine a Little Light on Me

What ho!

The Halloween decorations have appeared on the front porch

including the tin can lanterns for our current challenge.

Ahhh. A little jack-o-lantern shaped like a heart. Who would have guessed.

Plus a simpler design that puts out lots of light.

More hearts? But of course!
Happy Halloween!

Light It Up

On one of my rare days off work, I decided to head on over to my mom's place and do the Group Challenge with her.  We went out and bought some spray paint and had "fun" hammering nails into cans of ice until our fingers went numb (well, mine did, at least ;) )

But it was worth it!

I made two cans. The first is Halloween themed, and has a jack-o-lantern on one side, and a cat on the other.

For my second can, I thought it would be fun to pull out some of my rainbow duck tape I still had from our previous challenge and decorate the can with that. Mom gave me the idea of popping holes along the lines. Since I'm "supposed" to stick with one color, I decided to outline the orange stripes.  I'm actually really happy with how that one came out, for being such a simple idea.

I liked the ironic comment mom made about half-way through our hole-punching spree about how "we choose these projects because they're supposed to be fast and easy"... It wasn't exactly quite either of those things, but I still had fun :D

Pencil Me In

I spent a little time in my studio today, putzing around, and putting things in order, playing with my new mini iron. I wandered across my pencil collection. I figure I have enough "stuff" now, so when folks go on vacation and have a need to bring me a souvenir, I ask for a pencil with a local attraction. These are some of my favorites from Marineland, Disney World, Miami, London's Parliament, Alaska, British Columbia, Bath in England, and Hawaii.

I decided to give my pencil collection a new home where they can be displayed. I found this cute little tin bucket with the heart-shaped cut-outs at a thrift store this summer. Just right!

I "heart" this container.

A Little More Geocaching Love

At the beginning of this month, I made some hearts out of melty beads to use as swag on a recent geocache tour. Most of them held up fairly well. I need to be sure to melt the melty beads quite well, or the hearts fall apart in transport.

This was some of the swag I received in exchange on our cache tour. It seems many of us cachers like to share hearts.

And some like another sign of love.

Taking a Nap

I was resting ... playing with the nap on the arm of our microfiber sofa ...

I Love Geocaching

One of my favorite pastimes is geocaching. It's a treasure-hunting game that you can play all over the world. Using your GPS, you hunt down a treasure chest (cache container), sign a log book, and exchange booty.

I've been wanting to come up with a "signature" bit o' swag to leave behind. So this weekend I made a bunch of "melty bead" hearts. Nice and lightweight and not too big. I plan on doing a lot of caching this weekend, so I can test them out on the trail.

Down by the Spokane River

I found a tiny park along the Spokane River. I've lived here over 20 years and didn't know it existed until today. And in the park?

Tin Can Lantern Challenge

This month I've invited a guest artist to join in our group challenge. She my bestie, Debi Barry. The challenge?

I found this idea via a Facebook friend and on Pinterest:

The original post and instructions are from DIY Cozy Home.

I thought we might each adapt this idea for our own use. For example, instead of a hanging lantern, I'm thinking about making smaller votive candle holders.

I especially like this tip:
"here’s the secret to punching the holes without majorly denting the can…
fill them with water and freeze them first!"
Clever!

So my challenge is for each of us to create one or more tin can lanterns, utilizing each artist's theme.

I feel some hearts coming on!

I Love Frosting

Last month I made a birthday cake for my mother-in-law. I iced it with Betty Crocker frosting.

When done, the label was removed so the plastic tub could be recycled. This was left behind.

Ahhhh. I seem to see hearts everywhere!

A Ducky Hair Accessory

Finally, I have returned from my adventures abroad and have completed my duck tape challenge!

I fell in love with this pink polka dot duck tape. When Mom offered her red duck tape to the mix, I knew I wanted to make flowers.

After a little bit of slicing, manipulating, and sticking together, we made these lovely little flower bobby pins!

They look oh-so-glamorous on my noggin, don't you think?

Now... on to our next challenge!

Love Bug

What in the dickens is this?

Love Bug

It's a little painted bug on my face! Jodie had her face painted at our town market. When we got home, she painted this Love Bug on my cheek!

Jodie and I have lots of crazy fun when we're together.

Crafty Hearts

I helped out at a children's program at our public library. The kids made fairy cottages from bark and flowers and sticks and rocks.

They had lots of supplies to choose from

Including these shiny red and white rocks.

Look what I found in the pile!

I didn't go searching, they jumped out at me.

The more you look for love, the more it finds you.

Rolling Over the Prairie

Dale and I were taking a ride in the convertible. This cloud formation appeared momentarily, then was gone. Glad I had my phone's camera handy!
